What's about this?
Susan doesn’t always say things in exactly the right order…

This particular client brings a proud tear to our eye and makes us toss up a hearty fist-pump in honor of days past. The fact is that more than half our team at New Boston heard those sweet notes of “Pomp and Circumstance” while graduating from this very College.
Yes, the K-State College of Arts and Sciences is a client near and dear to our hearts…one that helped several of us become well-educated, productive members of society (my love of the
boob tube notwithstanding).
We first began working with the College back in 2005. Together with the associate dean and the College’s K-State Foundation officer, we created a twice-yearly magazine called Connections, which keeps alumni in the know about the goings-on at the College — and encourages them to give to scholarships, research and other needs. This private support is more important now than ever, as less than 25 percent of the university budget is provided by the state (compared to 45 percent in 1990).
The College of Arts and Sciences is truly the heart of the university, giving students campus-wide more than half their credits. Home to more than 7,000 students and 20-plus departments, there’s plenty to showcase in these magazines.
The Winter 2009 issue featured students, alumni and staff who are doing big things with technology. It talks about Bill Porter, the 1952 alum who revolutionized the stock market by launching E*Trade, the first site to make online stock trading possible for anyone with an Internet connection. It introduces two doctoral geography students who got national press attention after presenting their GIS maps of sin…in Sin City (pretty sweet, if you ask me). And it highlights assistant cultural anthropology prof Michael Wesch, whose work exploring technology and culture have him on call with both YouTube and National Geographic.
Not a shabby bunch, eh? We’re honored to help share these stories with our fellow Arts and Sciences alumni.
