The Group

What’s in a Name?

It never fails: When we meet someone new, the first question is, “Why New Boston?” Here’s the official story (the quiz comes later):

In April 1855, three pioneer groups merged to form the community of Boston in the vicinity of what is today downtown Manhattan, Kansas. Three months later, Boston’s name changed to Manhattan when a group of New Yorkers agreed to join the community after their steamboat got stuck (twice!) on a sandbar.

OK, so it has to do with an obscure twist of history. But why name our company New Boston?

Much of our reasoning goes back to the fact that people seem to think you must look to the large metro areas of the coasts to get innovative creative work. We disagree. We’ve found that the Midwest is home to large numbers of talented, creative and forward-thinking people. We draw upon the strengths of our talented crew to provide our region with quality marketing and communications. And if that means we steal a few clients from the coasts along the way, so be it!
